Al Brown is one of Europe’s leading specialists in property fire risk assessment and risk engineering. Over the years he has undertaken fire and risk engineering projects for clients in the electronics and semiconductor industries at major production facilities in the UK, Europe, the US and Asia. He has particular expertise in specialist manufacturing equipment, process fire risk assessment and cleanroom fire safety, including SEMI S3, SEMI S14 and ATEX evaluation, and is experienced in fire investigation and forensic engineering In addition to major clients in the electronics industry in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, Al has undertaken projects in sectors ranging from commercial property and prisons to the pulp and paper, rubber products, food processing and oil and marine industries.
He founded Rushbrook Consultants in 1999 after 14 years with insurers Factory Mutual International. Since then he has been involved with fire and explosion risk assessment and the development of risk mitigation and management strategies, as well as the design of fire protection systems for semiconductor wafer and LCD fabs in Europe and SE Asia. Al has presented numerous technical papers and articles at conferences and events worldwide, including at Interflam, Edinburgh, in July 2004, and is a regular contributor to professional journals. He is co-chair of the SEMI International Standards Program’s European Environment Health & Safety Committee and has served as member of various technical standards committees including NFPA 75, NFPA 318, SEMI (S3, S10, S14 and ATEX, explosive atmospheres). He is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers, the Institute of Fire Safety, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. |
