Fire Safety Engineering Capabilities Print E-mail

RUSHBROOK specialises in innovative fire safety engineering and the development of robust fire safety strategies enabling architects to achieve acceptable levels of safety in large or complex buildings.

Fire safety traditionally focuses on the life safety implications of fire and protecting the occupants.  This may be through the application of fire regulations, codes and standards, or as has become more common in recent years through the application of fire safety engineering solutions and performance based designs.

By involving a professional fire engineer at an early stage in a project, preferably at the conceptual design stage, fire hazards can be identified and innovative solutions developed to mitigate the risks in a practical and pragmatic way.

Key Benefits

  • Cost effective and practical solutions overcoming restrictions imposed by fire regulations and codes
  • Development of solutions based on sound fire science
  • Practical improvements to life safety standards in old, historic or large and complex buildings

Capabilities

RUSHBROOK Consultants have a wide range of fire safety engineering experience and training allowing them to provide advice on a wide range of projects where fire safety engineering solutions are required. All our projects are supervised by a Chartered Engineers with relevant fire engineering education and experience

  • Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Strategy Development
  • Fire and Smoke Modelling
  • Evacuation Modelling

Fire Protection Engineering Print E-mail

RUSHBROOK can provide a wide range of fire protection consulting and design services.  Developing consulting packages and preliminary designs that are not simply intended to be compliant with relevant codes and standards but that will achieve risk management objectives.

Involving our fire protection engineers at the conceptual design stage for new projects will help maximising cost savings and the effectiveness of the fire protection design.

Key Benefits

  • Designs incorporating client's risk management objectives
  • Extensive experience in cleanroom fire protection engineering
  • Cost effective compliance with insurance and AHJ recommendations

Fire Testing and Fire Modelling Print E-mail

Through our close association with the University of Edinburgh’s BRE Centre for Fire Safety Engineering, we are also able to offer a number of additional services, including fire testing of materials at the RUSHBROOK fire laboratory.

Although the use of numerical techniques for modelling: fire growth, development and movement; structural response; and evacuation; is often unnecessary where a robust and well-defined analytical method can be employed, we understand that for some of our clients these services are necessary. As such we are able to offer these services in addition to our standard services, where instructed, through our sub-consultancy agreement with the University of Edinburgh.

Key Benefits

  • Appropriate fire testing of new components can lead to the acceptance of new products for modern design solutions
  • A thorough understanding of numerical modelling can help to identify primary mechanisms for smoke and fire spread and development; allowing for further analysis using robust analytical methods
